L'Assomption, heritage and cultural city.

L’Assomption is located northeast of Montreal and Repentigny, on the banks of the river with the same name. The central part of the city is on a peninsula traced by the curves of the river. A city of history that celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2017, there are still streets lined with old houses. L'Assomption sash or "arrow sash" is a unique type of colourful sash, a traditional piece of French-Canadian clothing of the 19th century said to originate from L’Assomption.

The population of this small town has doubled in the last 20 years to reach 22,800 inhabitants. It is expected to have more than 32,000 residents by 2031.
